Is your Danish Air flight cancelled?
Check your compensation rights
Has your flight with Danish Air been cancelled?
Was your Danish Air flight cancelled? You may be entitled to compensation of up to €600 per person under Regulation 261/2004. Read more about your rights and check whether you are entitled to compensation.
If your flight with Danish Air is cancelled, when are you entitled to compensation?
Your right to compensation for a cancelled flight depends on when you were notified of the cancellation:
- If you were informed more than 2 weeks in advance, you are not entitled to compensation
- If you were informed between 14 and 7 days before departure and you arrived more than 4 hours later, you are entitled to compensation
- If you were informed 7 days or less before departure and you arrived more than 2 hours later, you are entitled to compensation
Note that you are only entitled to compensation if you were flying from an EU country, or if you were flying from outside of the EU to an EU country with a European airline.
Danish Air should offer you a replacement flight
If your flight is cancelled, Danish Air must offer you a replacement flight. The above compensation schedule applies if you accept the alternative flight and then arrive earlier or later. You will then be compensated for the time difference.
Even if you were informed by Danish Air less than 2 weeks before the scheduled departure and you refuse the alternative flight, you are entitled to compensation. In addition, you must get a refund of your ticket costs.
What if Danish Air can proof extraordinary circumstances?
If ${TemplateNamce} can prove there were ‘extraordinary circumstances’, Danish Air cannot be held responsible for the cancellation. This may be the case if your flight is cancelled for example due to bad weather conditions, terrorism, emergency landings and strikes conducted by non-Danish Air staff. In this case, you will not be entitled to any compensation.
Within the EU:
- €250 compensation for a cancelled flight up to 1500 km
- €400 compensation for a cancelled flight between 1500 and 3500 km
For flight destinations outside the EU you are entitled to:
- €250 compensation for a cancelled flight up to 1500 km
- €400 compensation for a cancelled flight between 1500 and 3500 km
- €600 compensation for a flight exceeding 3500 km
