Discover Airlines Strike: what you need to know
Get up to €600 compensation
Starting Tuesday, August 27, pilots and cabin crew of Discover Airlines, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, will begin a four-day strike. This industrial action is expected to cause significant disruptions to holiday flights departing from Germany.
Discover Airlines, founded in 2021, operates 27 aircraft from Frankfurt and Munich to popular vacation destinations. Unfortunately, this strike is likely to affect many travelers, especially during the busy summer period, potentially putting planned holidays at risk.
In this article we’ll also explain your rights as a passenger.
Why are Discover Airlines employees on strike?
The strike was called by the unions Cockpit and UFO following failed negotiations with Lufthansa. These unions represent the pilots and cabin crew and decided to take action after previous agreements with another union, Verdi, were deemed insufficient.
According to data from aviation analytics company Cirium, Discover Airlines has scheduled 135 departures from Germany between August 27 and August 30. These flights collectively offer 28,699 seats, with an average of 212.7 seats per flight during this period. Here’s a breakdown of the scheduled departures:
Discover Airlines departures from Germany between August 27 and August 30:
- August 27: 31 flights, 6,744 seats
- August 28: 33 flights, 6,982 seats
