    Transport sector workers started their first day of strike action today ( October 28th) as they are demanding an early retirement age. The strike is one of six planned days of action by drivers, who want the Spanish Government to bring forward their retirement age due to the high number of accidents involving drivers over 55. Strikes are also due to take place on November 11, 28 and 29 and December 5 and 9. If no agreement is reached, the drivers are threatening an indefinite strike from December 23rd.

    Top UK airline warns of huge travel disruption at Spanish airport this week

    The five-day strike will impact holidaymakers from today (July 31, 2024) until Sunday (August, 4, 2024).

    According to a notice on the Jet2 website, security services at Alicante Airport will be affected from 8.30am until 9.30am and 6pm until 7pm.

    Holidaymakers are being encouraged to allow extra time to make sure they don’t miss their flight.
